The visa ban was announced as part of efforts to keep the disease out of Canada, which hasn’t recorded a case yet

The government said on Friday, October 31 that it is suspending visa applications for residents and nationals of countries with "widespread and persistent-intense transmission" of the Ebola Virus Disease.

Canada’s Health Minister, Rona Ambrose said via a statement that the country’s "number one priority is to protect Canadians."
