Wicked Russian Tennis Chief calls Serena And Venus ‘The Williams Brothers’

Russian Tennis president Shamil Tarpischev was fined and banne for calling Serena Williams and sister, Venus; The Williams Brothers

Mr Shamil Tarpischev, president of the Russian Tennis Federation was fined $25,000 for tagging the Williams sisters as men.

Shamil called the girls ‘The Williams Brothers’ in a televisison chat show and has been sanctioned by the Women Tennis Association.


His comments were regarded as "insulting, demeaning and have absolutely no place on our sport.’’

"As a result of his comments I have ordered Mr. Tarpischev to be fined $25,000, the maximum allowed under WTA rules," and would be suspended from WTA meetings and events for one year WTA chief executive, Stacy Allaster said

President of the USA tennis Association, Dave Haggerty condemned Mr Tarpischev’s called him to apologize

"As the president of the Russian Tennis Federation and a member of the International Olympic Committee, Mr Tarpischev is expected to conduct himself with the highest degree of integrity and sportsmanship."
