US Nurse Cured Of Ebola

Amber Vinson (pictured), the second US health worker to contract Ebola is now free of the disease



A nurse who was the second US health worker to be infected with Ebola is now free of the virus.

Relatives of Amber Vinson have said that doctors at theEmory University Hospital and officials of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention can no longer detect the virus in the nurse’s blood.


A statement released by the nurse’s family through a media consultant states that Amber had been approved for transfer from isolation.

Her mother, Debra Berry said:

"We all know that further treatment will be necessary as Amber continues to regain strength, but these latest developments have truly answered prayers and bring our family one step closer to reuniting with her at home,"

Ms. Vinson contracted Ebola after assisting in the treatment of infected Liberian, Thomas Duncan who died of the disease inTexas on October 8.

Vinson and the first nurse to be infected, Nina Pham worked at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital where Duncan was treated until his death.

Miss Pham is also receiving treatment for the disease.
